Staff devotions are usually on Wednesday mornings but for this week, it was on a Tuesday because the office was mailing out Canvas today. It was an all girls one. We looked at Revelation 5.
As we read through it, I was firstly struck by the verse that said, "no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or to look inside". But, as you read further on in the passage, it says "Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open up the scroll and its seven seals". We clearly know that Jesus is the one who is mentioned here and he able to do all that. He is then described as the "Lamb looking as if it had been slain, standing in the circle of the throne..." and he didn't just do it for you and I. But, "he purchased men from every tribe and language and people and nation....making them into a kingdom and priests to serve our God and they will reign on earth". What Jesus did was out of love for us, God's creation and it was done for all humanity, everyone of us. How amazing is that?
The verses after that goes on to describe how the voices of "many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands and ten thousand times ten thousand" sang and every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea singing" praises to the Lamb. Trying to imagine it is pretty hard. It's really beyond our human mind to comprehend because just the thought of it is mind blowing in itself. I really anticipate the day when it comes to past in His timing!!!
Tonight, we gathered as a collective group, praying for our University, Victoria. This is the second prayer meeting the Christian groups at Victoria have done this year. We were able to submit everything about our University- staff and management, the students etc. We know that we serve a great, big God who is in control of everything that is going on, even in our University. He cares...
